Helping Claw
WIP build of Helping Claw, a learning game made for OET based on ROV manipulator arms and deep sea exploration. This game is based on the OET learning module "Give Hercules a Helping Claw" here: https://nautiluslive.org/resource/give-hercules-helping-claw
Module Learning Outcomes:
- use the engineering design process to build a manipulator arm with a claw that can grasp and release different objects.
- learn about and discuss the importance of using ROVs in ocean exploration.
Controls:
- Move Components: Left-Click and Drag
- Move ROV: WASD
- Arm Controls: Left-Click to select segment, Right-Click to deselect. W/S to move segment up and down. C (when claw is touching object) to pick up objects
Other Instructions:
- Once you gain control of the ROV, search for the yellow circles and drive your ROV into them. These are the treasures you need to collect, and there are only two of them in this version of the game.
- Once you have picked up an item in your claw, raise the arm up high to collect it. After collecting the item you will return to exploring with the ROV.
Known Bugs/Other Notes:
- In the building scene, there is a bug where it won't always let you confirm your build even if all components are in place. If this happens, try moving the components away and then back into place and clicking the checkmark button again. If the problem persists, reload the page and restart the game.
- This is still a work-in-progress, some planned features are not implemented yet and we expect you to find bugs/issues. Any feedback is appreciated. Thanks for playing!
